Activities of the APSM

In recent months the APSM has been engaged in a range of activities including for example, consulting with the Department of Health (DH) about a method of controlling the cost of Specials that doesn’t compromise the supply to vulnerable patients. It is important that APSM members are involved with this process, as they produce a large proportion of the Specials manufactured in the UK. The APSM acknowledges that change is needed within the market.

The APSM have also been working closely with the RPS to develop guidelines in Specials dispensing for pharmacists. We hope that this will be the first of many such initiatives as we develop a close partnership with healthcare professionals.
